25 aprile 2015, il Nepal e’ scosso da un violentissimo terremoto di magnitudo 7,8. Oltre a gravissimi danni alle infrastrutture, alla distruzione di un patrimonio storico ed artistico incommensurabile, causa la morte di piu di 8000 persone.
Io ero li. Vivendo in un campo attrezzato per gli sfollati ho cercato di raccontare la vita e la reazione di queste persone che in un attimo si sono trovate senza niente, con tutto da ricostruire. Persone che con forza hanno reagito alla catastrofe, senza dimenticarsi il loro modo di essere ed il loro sorriso. Mantenendo viva l’accoglienza e la felicita’, parte integrante della loro cultura e conosciuta da chiunque abbia avuto il piacere di visitare il loro splendido paese.
Il reportage si sviluppa a Kathmandu e nei vicini villaggi di Kirtipur, Chobar, Panga, Baktapur e Bungamati
April 25th 2015 – Nepal is shaken by an extremely violent magnitude 7.8 earthquake. In addition to the serious damage to the country’s infrastructure and the immeasurable destruction of historical and artistic heritage, it resulted in the death of more than 8000 people.
I was there. Living in a camp built for the displaced, I tried to tell these people’s story and their reaction to, in a single moment, finding themselves left with nothing and with everything needing to be rebuilt. People who responded to the catastrophe with strength and without forgetting their way of life or their smile. People who kept their hospitality and joy alive – an integral part of their culture; something known by anyone who has had had the pleasure of visiting their splendid country.
The photo coverage takes place in Kathmandu and the nearby villages of Kirtipur, Chobar, Panga, Baktapur, and Bungamati.
